TCA kicked off the planting season this year with a wonderful tree planting held at the new site of the Quepos Elderly Care Home in Naranjito on June 17, 2016. Students from the Naranjito Public Elementary school were joined by some of the homes residents for a civic ceremony honoring National Tree Day, and then planted approximately 250 trees to create a green zone for the new home. Refreshments and support were provided by volunteers from Marina Pez Vela,a longtime member of the Alliance.
In August students from Los Delfines and Escuela la Inmaculada joined together in planting an area of Bill and Alba Gannon’s farm in Anita, located on the outskirts of Quepos. Also in August, we initiated a new alliance with St Judes School in Santa Ana when some 20 high school students travelled to Quepos to plant trees on the farm of Carlos Mora in Pocares.
Finally, students from the Colegio Ecoturistico del Pacifico also planted trees on the Carlos Mora farm.
